Your details are not stored or sent anywhere: the PDF is made in your browser.

When you need it

Anyone who moves into a flat in Germany must register at the Bürgeramt within two weeks (Anmeldung). For that you need a written confirmation from the Wohnungsgeber – the landlord or a person they appoint, such as the property management. The landlord must give it to you within two weeks of your move-in (§ 19 Bundesmeldegesetz). More in our guide to the Anmeldung.

How to fill it in

  • Enter the landlord or property management exactly as in your rental contract. If the person signing is not the owner, also enter the owner's name and address if you know them.
  • List everyone who moves in and has to register, one name per line, spelled as in their passports.
  • Enter the date you actually moved in, not the date of the contract.

Signature and next steps

Only the landlord or the person they appoint may sign; you cannot sign it yourself. Many property managements also send the confirmation directly to the registration office and give you a code instead. Take the signed form, your passport or ID card and the registration form to your Bürgeramt appointment.

If your landlord refuses or does not answer, tell the Bürgeramt: the landlord is obliged to confirm and can be fined for not doing so.
